The concept of ‘The Poetry Point’ developed out of leading a series of writer’s workshops as part of a literacy project in 2008. The “Young Cultural Creators Project”(YCC) involved working with a Pupil Referral Unit, the Cornwall Records Office Falmouth Library, and Falmouth Art Gallery.

‘One of my main aims was to be able to give the young participants something to have at the end of the process. With a limited budget we were able to publish a small pamphlet of the student’s work, and present it to the Cornwall Records Office, who then archived it amongst their permanent collection. I came to understand better that words are not simply something that appear on the page as they are written, but are always part of many different forms of simultaneous language.  They are in part visual, in another way aural, in many ways they represent a language that maps the body as they do thought itself.’ m.d.
